On February 23, 2024 on Alligator Records will release JJ Grey & Mofro’s new album Olustee. This is the first studio record from the group since 2015’s Ol’ Glory. Olustee also represents Grey’s initial go-round as producer and the dynamic, soulful record both harkens back to Mofro’s earliest work and adds some additional nuances (including four songs with a full orchestra).
Today, we are premiering the lyric video for “Wonderland” which opens side two of the vinyl (Olustee can be pre-saved and pre-ordered in multiple formats). Grey says of the song, “When I was younger it was so hard for me to write a song about simple happiness. This song is almost like a post-it note for me, there to remind me that everyday is the first day of my life.” As for the record as a whole, he tells Relix, “”I’m always thinking about how things feel live,” he states. “I want there to be an overall narrative of story, just like the live show.” JJ Grey & Mofro will return to the road in support of the record starting on March 6.
