KOHIMA — The Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) is poised to make a significant impact at the upcoming Asia Music Summit scheduled to be held in Kohima from Feb. 1 till the 3rd.
An update from IPRS issued on Jan. 25 informed that the society aims to empower musicians from Northeast, offering invaluable insights into the intricacies of the music industry, including copyright, royalties, and the critical role of music copyright societies in championing creators’ rights.
IPRS, as a government-authorised music copyright society that stands as a stalwart guardian of creators’ rights, offering legal protection and ensuring fair compensation for their intellectual property.
The Asia Music Summit is said to feature an enlightening workshop hosted by IPRS, providing a deep dive into music copyright, the society’s role, managing rights as a creator, and the importance of royalties.
Also, the IPRS is said to be organising an exclusive enrollment boot camp during the summit, offering independent artists a one-time free membership opportunity to facilitate seamless access to the benefits of IPRS membership.
Imnamaong Imchen of Trans Effect, an Indie Rock Band from Dimapur, emphasised the importance of understanding and protecting creators’ rights, expressing gratitude for IPRS’s support.
Rakesh Nigam, CEO of IPRS, highlighted the society’s focus on empowering Northeastern creators through strategic collaborations and extensive outreach.
